Samsung Electronics Deploys AI Tools for Businesses Across the Company

Samsung Electronics is accelerating its adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) across the company by deploying ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex to its employees worldwide. The deployment, one of OpenAI's largest enterprise deployments to date, will make these tools available to all Samsung Electronics employees in Korea and those working in its Device eXperience (DX) division globally.

The move is part of a broader effort to enhance employee productivity and problem-solving capabilities across various functions, including software development, marketing, product development, and manufacturing. ChatGPT Enterprise provides enterprise-grade capabilities that enable organizations to use AI securely and effectively, including data protection, user and access management, and security controls.

ChatGPT will be used for a wide range of knowledge-based tasks, such as searching for and analyzing information, drafting documents, developing ideas, and interpreting data. Codex, which started as a tool for software development, is increasingly useful for more kinds of work. It can enhance not only developer productivity but also the productivity of non-technical teams in their day-to-day work.

For example, employees can use Codex to turn ideas into working software, internal tools, websites, and automated workflows. This represents a significant expansion of AI adoption within Samsung Electronics, which is embracing these technologies as core platforms for improving how employees around the world work and innovate.

Harrison Kim, General Manager of OpenAI Korea, noted that this historic deployment is particularly significant because it marks a shift towards using AI not just in specific teams or functions but across the entire organization. 'This is an exciting moment for us,' he said.

Samsung Electronics plans to use ChatGPT and Codex for technical and non-technical work, with over 5 million people already using Codex every week for various workflows and roles. In Korea alone, weekly active users of Codex have grown nearly 800% since February 1, 2026.

The relationship between OpenAI and Samsung Electronics is expanding beyond AI infrastructure to encompass workforce transformation and company-wide AI adoption. The two companies previously collaborated on global AI infrastructure projects, including the supply of advanced memory semiconductors required for next-generation AI infrastructure.

OpenAI has also worked with other Korean companies, such as Kakao, Seoul National University, LG Electronics, and several others in various industries to integrate ChatGPT into their platforms. This includes enabling people to ask ChatGPT questions directly within KakaoTalk group chats and providing access to ChatGPT Edu at no cost to all members of the university community.

The deployment is part of a broader effort by Samsung Electronics to leverage data analysis tools like ChatGPT Enterprise for business growth and innovation. By adopting these AI tools, companies can improve employee productivity, solve complex problems, and create new products and services more efficiently.
